Elin-Margareta Nordin interview of the Swedish actress and filmmaker by Christos Arfanis
I am happy and honored to present to you an exclusive interview with Elin-Margareta Nordin, Swedish actress and filmmaker.
Christos Arfanis: When did you start getting involved with acting and filmmaking and what got you started? Who is your inspiration and why? Is there any particular role that you would like to play in your career?
Elin-Margareta Nordin: I started to act in my teens on the stage and infront of the camera, I went to this awesome media school where I studied editing and showed how cameras worked. My inspiration and idol is Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn was more than a blonde Hollywood star, she was a great actress. Watch the 1953 movie Niagara, it shows how wonderful of a actress she is but also look at all of her movies, she showed, shows true feelings. There is so many roles I want to play, a dream is to work on a soap opera like Days of our lives, Sunset Beach and other shows like that, I love them, I grew up watching them. I have a list of roles I want to play both here in Sweden, Hollywood and other places. What I love is a great script, a good cast and crew. Some of my dream roles are to play Carol Daly, she was a detective who worked on a case that turned out to be linked to the Golden State Killer, Yvette Vickers the beautiful B-movies actress. Yvette was Honey in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman or to play some of Swedens acting stars like Sickan Carlsson and Annalisa Ericson. There are so many roles, different characters I would love to portray not just in film and TV but also on the stage.
Christos Arfanis: What excites you about making supernatural/mystery/horror projects?
Elin-Margareta Nordin: I love making horror projects, they are so much fun and to make them. There is so much more than just a killer, a bunch of bodies that will be killed and a survivor, there is a story behind the cameras, the characters, the special effects and with the movie. I have loved horror since I was a child and I feel so much free making them.
Christos Arfanis: In 2017 you started to work with the director, producer, and writer Mark Denham on his short film Love and Warheads. You have since then worked together on The Ritual, Toy Box Killers, El Cucuy, Sibling Rivalry, The Untitled Show: The Interview and After Claire’s Funeral.Tell us about your collaboration with Mark.
Elin-Margareta Nordin: Working with Mark is great, he challenge me with acting and filmmaking. He has good ideas and writes great scripts. I love working with him, it is easy to work with Mark because we are colleagues on set and friends in private, he is family.
Christos Arfanis: When you are not acting and directing, you run a Supernatural/Mystery web show called “The Untitled Show by E-MN”, where you talk about cold cases, ghosts and the unknown.Tell us about it. Where can someone listen to your web show and what’s your favorite episode so far of the ones you have released?
Elin-Margareta Nordin: Spotify, on youtube and acast. The Untitled Show by E-MN is a project that I started on my instagram with some short videos and now it´s on Spotify. Wow my favourite episode, I have so many, anything with hauntings and unsolved cases, it so so interesting to talk about them because when I do research I find so much and sometimes I have many episodes about the same case and sometimes just one episode but all of them are great to make. I love history, the unknown and to be able to make a episode about that is wonderful.
Christos Arfanis: Tell us about your future career plans.
Elin-Margareta Nordin: At the moment Im writing a horror series with journalist and writer Paul Bagnall, we are almost finished, it is awesome. Paul is awesome writer to work with and after the script is completed than we will find a company to work with. I´m going to auditions at the moment and has a short film that is coming out soon, Samantha is a short film that is a sequal to Toy Box Killers and I have also joined a theater. I got over my fear of my two left feet and applied to join a dance class, I hope to get answer soon if I got my place in the class. There is so much happening, I’m also going to work with photographer Madlayne Wikström again and I´m the associate producer for the gangster film Caught In-Between and Mark is in the film.
